The Kia Optima is a car I shouldn't like. I'm the kind of person who would only drive sports sedans and sports cars, and don't care for a car with none of those in mind. However for some reason I do like the Optima. What about you? What car do you not want to like, but like anyways?

In a strange way, something inside of me wants one, and doesn't want one at the same time.
I can't explain it either, but I want to drive one, once before it falls apart.

The Optima isn't a 'sports sedan' but it's not bad when powered by the SX Turbo.

The Prius family of vehicles (notably the C).
Yes, it's the first name in smug, it may not be as environmentally friendly as claimed, and they are generally boring to drive and to look at...
BUT, the cars are exceptionally well built and completely dominate every other hybrid on the market. No other hybrid can match its price or economy. It's become the shining example of what a hybrid is.
You may hate the Prius, but you have to respect the work Toyota invested into it.

I could totally live with an Optima. Best car in the SFO Avis rental fleet...I'm always happy when I get one.
My un-me car would be conversion vans. I love those things. I look at Sprinter conversions way more than I should.

I recently found myself thinking that the current Honda Accord is kinda attractive. And I've never been a Honda person, ever .

prepare to be underwhelmed, but yeah I always hated the GV, the GVX I can look at. I have the same feeling for the Alliance GTA

I'd put the Camry down, but I'm supposed to like that, because it's my first car. I like the CRV. I'm not a soccermom, but I've been in it and I found the whole experience to be pleasant, its smooth to drive and overall a very nice car. I like the Original CRVs too, but the newest one is the most pleasant. Also the sound system is cray.

That Renault looks nice, I'll still take an Alpine over it.
Just for shits and giggles.
It's only got 38,000 miles. That means that it's already 30,000 miles past due for falling apart.

Lexus GX. It's like the ultimate asshole car. Because really, to pay money for, and drive this thing, you have to be a huge asshole.
And yet, it's basically a gussied-up Land Cruiser Prado which is a fantastic truck.

The Yukon/Tahoe Twins
They're big, uneconomical, and a smaller CUV could do the job just as well. Above all else they're insanely expensive now. But there's something about them that I like, and I can't put finger on it.

Didn't the C get a "do not buy" or something from Consumer reports?

I agree with you on the Kia. These are some off the top of my head : Ford Flex (with that metal looking lift gate), Mercedes R Class, big luxury conversion vans, Lincoln MKZ.

Probably, although I don't find Consumer Reports to be a reliable authority on anything more expensive than a dishwasher. They review cars like they review appliances, which is a downright stupid idea.

It's the complete antithesis of the vehicle that I want and/or need. I prefer smaller, more agile and lithe vehicles - with good efficiency. Practical vehicles with some fun driving dynamics basically. This is a monstrosity in every metric.
But I fucking love it.

the Mk3 Volkswagen Golf GTi
It's about as nose heavy as a 2006 Chevy Impalla SS, it is lazy with the VR6, and it returns bad MPG's. On top of being too soft to be a proper GTi
BUT...
goddamn do these things have character. The 2.8 VR6 Is in my humble opinion, the second best sounding engine ever made, right after the Murcielago's screaming V12, and I really like the way one of these looks stock, especially in red or yellow
